juwi currently has two placements open, one for an undergraduate studying for a construction management or building engineering degree, and the other one for a graduate studying for an electrical engineering degree or similar. As an undergraduate intern, with construction management background or electrical engineering, you will be assisting our UK team in design and construction of 20 – 250kW roof top solar Photovoltaic (PV) installations in the UK.  

Student Placement - Construction Management and/or Electrical Engineering

 

Principal Position Description

  • Support the UK team at various stages of the design and construction of the UK PV projects. 
  • Assist the UK team in site visits to assess the suitability of the potential sites
  • Assist in the project development up to, and during, the construction phase. 
  • Assist in developing the data management systems to document various stages of the projects in line with the HQ guidelines
  • Assist in the technical parts of the UK standard cost calculations 
  • Travel occasionally to project sites

Position Requirements

  • Keen interest in working in the renewable energies sector within UK and awareness of renewable energy policies
  • An interest and some experience of designing & implementing UK PV installations.
  • Basic theoretical knowledge of system designs and construction of 20-250kW PV projects and familiarity with solar PV technology
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering with focus on power generation or transmission within the UK (for electrical graduate placement)
  • Knowledge of and interest in how to integrate renewable technologies into the built environment (construction management/building engineering)
  • Basic understanding of project management principles
  • Knowledge of processes, safety topics, suppliers of switchgear, transformers in the area of power plants or distribution networks (for electrical  placement).

Placement duration and location

  • Start date: August 2011
  • Duration: 9-12 months
  • Location: Solihull office, Birmingham with occasional, project-related travel within UK.

Student Placement - Marketing

Principal Position Description

  • Prepare a strategy of how to best promote juwi brand via website, social media (facebook, twitter and linked in).
  • Manage the website content and update the juwi UK site as required.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the site.
  • Develop ideas for how best to market the juwi value proposition in the UK through new channels to our target audience

Position Requirements

  • Studying for a Marketing degree, interest in website design, social media, brand promotion
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Autonomous: take initiative and organize work in an independent manner.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Desire to grow professionally.

Placement duration and location

  • Start date: October 2011
  • Duration: 3 -4 months
  • Location: Solihull office, Birmingham with occasional, project-related travel within UK.
